Abstract


Digital technology, defined by its use of binary data for storage and transmission, has revolutionized varioussectors, particularly the culture and creative industries, by fostering new forms of representation, enhancing creativecapacity, and creating new market niches. It has reshaped social communication, information organization, and knowledgedistribution, leading to the popularization of digital culture and the integration of innovative technologies. Digitaltechnology impacts the dissemination of popular culture, altering traditional news consumption patterns and enabling newforms of content creation, such as TED Talks and podcasts, while posing challenges like disinformation and manipulationthrough computer-generated imagery. Streaming platforms like Netflix and Spotify have significantly influenced culturalproduction and consumption habits, challenging traditional practices and regulatory frameworks. Furthermore, digitaltechnologies democratize content production, empowering marginalized communities and shaping personal and collectiveidentities through social media and online activism. They also create new economic opportunities by facilitating digitalcontent development and distribution, opening new market niches, and driving economic growth. However, issues likemisinformation and surveillance capitalism necessitate ongoing evaluation and regulation to ensure digital technologiesenhance rather than undermine democratic systems. Overall, digital technology has transformed the popular cultureindustry, offering innovative opportunities and driving continuous change in cultural production, consumption, andeconomic growth.
