Mobile Banking, Détention Des Comptes Bancaires Et Accès Au Crédit En Afrique Subsaharienne
Abstract
Abstract
Mobile banking is increasingly presented as a technological innovation with enormous potential to facilitate financial inclusion. Based on data from a sample of 36 african countries for the period 2012-2019, this study aimed to analyze the relationship between Mobile Banking penetration and standard indicators of access to basic banking services, such as bank accounts holding and access to credit from financial institutions. The results from panel data modelling revealed a positive relationship between mobile banking and the number of deposit and loan accounts with commercial banks. The study also showed that GDP per capita and the number of bank branches significantly affect individuals’ access to basic financial services.
