Impact Of Human Civilization On The Environment

M.O.A Ezimah

Abstract

Human civilization through successive centuries has had a heavy toll on the environment. Each intervening century has contributed to environmental damage in one significant way or the other. Evidence suggests that as human capacity increases, there is a corresponding increase in productive skills which impact the environment. The remote and immediate causes of human activities have given rise to what is today known as environmental degradation. The escalation of environmental degradation has become a world concern-giving way to collaborative efforts in human and material resources at the local, regional and international frontiers of cooperation as a remedy for environmental crises. This is the theme discussed in this paper.

Keywords
