A Critical Discourse Analysis of the Syrian Migration “Crisis” As Presented by Different Newspapers

Yagouta Beji Beji

Abstract

This study employs the ideational and textual meta-functions within the Systemic Functional Linguistics approach in the investigation of the coverage of the Syrian migration “crisis” in five different newspaper articles. The Critical Discursive analysis of the case shows that all the articles defend the rights of their correspondent countries to protect their borders against any Syrian migration.
