Abstract

The Diet and the trophic Behavior of the sand sole pegusa lascaris, Risso on 1810, was studied for populations catched in four main ports of Atlantic coast of Morocco:  Agadir’s port, Ifni, Essaouira and Safi. The sampling is made on individuals of the sand sole with the sizes between 15cm and 30 cm during winter 2015.
The results of the vacuity index show that this species has a low trophic activity in the four stations.
The The relative importance study of preys in both weight and number, shows that the sand sole is a carnivorous and euryphagous species, feeding on three main benthic preys which belong to three main taxon polychaete annelids, bivalvia and Crustaceans.

The feeding pattern of the sand sole in four stations notice that hight diversity of the food preferences between stations, The classification of the food preferences according to the coefficient of Hureau 1970 revealed that pegusa lascaris of the Agadir area prefers the bivalvia whereas Mysidacea, decapoda and polychaete are secondary preys. The individuals of the Ifni area prefer the bivalvia and the decapods, the other preys are secondary. The sand sole from Essaouira prefer polychaete and decapoda, the bivalvia are secondary and the other preys are accessories. About the Safi station we notice that this species prefer essentially decapoda, the others are secondary or accidental preys.
