Etudes Des Influences Du Filler Calcaire Sur La Maniabilité Et Le Retrait Du Béton

Abstract


The objective of this study is to determine the influence of limestone filler on the workability, mechanical strength, and shrinkage of concrete.  The limestone fillers are among the mineral additions used to improve the characteristics of concrete and to decrease the quantities of cement used. In this research, the limestone used comes from the region of Antsirabe, more precisely in the quarry of Ibity. It is considered as inert according to the studies carried out but it meets the requirements of the mineral additions that can be used for the concrete.

Following our study, we found that the fresh and hardened characteristics of the concrete obtained depend on the mode of use of limestone filler as well as its content in the formulation of the concrete. With the use of limestone filler as aggregate, the workability, shrinkage, and mechanical strength are satisfactory. An increase of the subsidence and the mechanical resistance is observed in parallel with the increase of the content of limestone filler. For the shrinkage, it decreases if the content of limestone filler increases.

With the use of limestone filler as a substitution of cement, only with a substitution between 25% and 30%, we obtained a satisfactory result. Only between this interval that the concrete has a low shrinkage, fluid and have higher mechanical strength than that of the control concrete.
