Troubles Electrolytiques chez les Patients Atteints de Diabète Vivant à Bamako, Mali

Abstract


Résumé - Les patients diabétiques développent fréquemment une constellation de troubles électrolytiques qui contribue aux complications observées chez ces malades. L'objectif de cette étude était d'évaluer les perturbations des électrolytes chez les patients diabétiques vivant à Bamako.  Le glucose sérique et les électrolytes (Na+, K+ et Cl-) ont été déterminés chez 179 sujets diabétiques et 101 sujets non diabétiques. Tous les patients diabétiques ont présenté une augmentation significative (p-value <0,05) du taux sérique en sodium et potassium. Il a été noté une diminution significative du taux sérique des ions chlorures chez les diabétiques (p-value <0,05). Ainsi, cette étude montre que les patients atteints de diabète sont plus enclins à développer des déséquilibres électrolytiques.

Abstract – Diabetic patients frequently develop a constellation of electrolyte disorders that contribute to the complications observed in these patients. The objective of this study was to evaluate electrolyte disturbances in diabetic patients living in Bamako.  Serum glucose and electrolytes (Na+, K+ and Cl-) were determined in 179 diabetic and 101 non-diabetic subjects. All diabetic patients showed a significant increase (p-value <0.05) in serum sodium and potassium. There was a significant decrease in serum chloride ion levels in diabetic patients (p-value <0.05). Thus, this study shows that diabetic patients are more prone to develop electrolyte imbalances.
