Abstract

The history of Mexico has many nuances, in order to know only a moment and space it must be zoned and classified based on its cultural manifestations. Northern Mexico has been associated with dispersed populations and wild or seasoned nature, however, its vestiges show that these groups had high levels of knowledge of their environment, which is why they represented it in multiple aspects: ceramics, ideology, graphics and spatial arrangement.

La Angostura site in Chihuahua is a clear example of how the northern groups appropriated a space, characterized it and took advantage of the available resources in the environment. Despite the fact that there are no intensive research works, it is known that the site was occupied for a period that goes from the Archaic period to the present day, favored by the dynamic relationship between man and the environment.

From the review of the work that has been done in La Angostura, the aim is to highlight the symbolic and practical connection that the northern man developed with his space, what is observed in his graphic representations in which some abstractions are observed ( concentric circles, flowers, meandering lines, etc.) and on the other hand their marked realism (deer, dancers, etc.), in addition to the way in which they are distributed in the space: arrangement of residential areas and ceremonial centers.

Thus, we seek to highlight the role that researchers have on the value of the past and how we make the community in general appreciate and protect it, recognizing history may be the only way to project a better future.
